AKEELAH AND THE BEE

hey this one is quite an interesting story. i felt so because i myself had my share of playing spelling bee during my primary school. i even played it during my secondary school years but i often lose to my classmates. it's because they keep using words that ends with the letter X. not words many begins with the letter X right -_-".

but in this movie, the spelling bee is not like what i had played before. it was more like New Strait Times's Spell-It-Right. the main character of the movie is of course Akeela, a bright kid from the hood that can be a spelling expert with a right teacher to guide her. Akeela met Dr. Larebee and he guided her to become the next national spelling champion. they met lots of obstacles of course but then in the end, Akeelah finally reached her dream.

i love this movie because it's good and lots of moral values like determination, discipline and so on. after watching this movie, i realized that i still don't know meaning lots of English words and even never heard of them before. but 1 thing i don't like is the choice of actor for the character of Dylan. it mocks the stereotype of Asian parents who really want their kids to excel in everything just for the sake of the family's name.
